The Role…

As Senior Director of Finance, UK, Europe & Asia you will lead the global (ex. North America) finance teams to drive Soho House’s success. You will have oversight over the UK, Europe, and Asia operational finance teams, with the regional finance directors reporting directly into you. You will ensure the smooth day to day running of the finance function, and will oversee all operational finance for our global (ex. North America) portfolio of Houses, Works, public restaurants, gyms, spas, and cinemas. You will forge a close working relationship with all regional directors, balancing the commercial success of our existing sites with delivering on the company’s rapid growth trajectory. You will need an ability to think strategically and commercially and to understand the key performance drivers within the business; simplify the complex, and must be confident communicating regularly with senior leadership. You will have a strong track-record of analytical rigour and strategic thinking, and will be adept at operating both on a high-level and in the weeds, leading careful working capital management and drive long term, maintainable P&L performance. Your ability to interpret and communicate a vision, and prioritize deliverables will be extremely important. You will be qualified (ACA/FCA/MBA) and will have previous experience working for a fast-paced international business. This role reports to the Group Chief Finance Officer , and is based in London, UK. Flexibility to travel throughout the regions will be required.

Main responsibilities include:

* Providing financial and commercial insight to the Regional Directors and C-Suite to support decision making and drive financial business performance.
* Supporting the regional Managing Directors in commercial and financial decision making
* Detailed review of the weekly, monthly and annual results; reporting and presenting performance to the key stakeholders throughout the business to support strategic decision making at C-Suite level.
* Management of the finance teams to ensure support for the Regional Directors of Operations, giving accurate and timely financial information to support and lead business decisions.
* Finance lead for sales and retention activities, accountable for coordinating and reviewing financial proposals and assessing commercial impact
* Monitor and analyse quarterly operating results and headcount against budget and forecast
* Risk management and contractual compliance – ensuring that financial contract terms are being adhered to and flagging risks and validating opportunities.
* Help build and maintain a high performing, highly regarded financial global reporting team through effective performance management, coaching, motivation and recruitment
* Identification of key commercial initiatives to drive business performance and provide financial leadership and support delivery through financial analysis
* Key part of day to day stakeholder relationship management where appropriate, notably in financial reporting and commercial negotiations with landlords, JV partners and advisors.
* Identification and management of risks and opportunities in financial performance in partnership with the Regional Directors
* Ownership of financial control and governance processes including contractual compliance and adherence to Soho House financial policies
* Review and recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance
* Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure to effectively accomplish the departmental goals and objectives
* Manage Ad hoc project work including assistance with longterm planning, investor presentations, Senior facilities refinancing, property related refinance, new sites, projects, commercial and legal terms.
* Understand and translate complex accounting technical advice to broader stakeholders as required and in conjunction with Global CFO decide on individual judgmental complex accounting issues
* Working with the Development in real time, supporting on accounting, technical and commercial considerations in the context of deal structuring and documentation using existing knowledge of reporting considerations, banking and covenant requirements.
* Supporting business change projects including a major new Finance transformation / ERP implementation

* Support implementation and roll-out of robust and effective consolidated financial close processes for the timely and accurate preparation of management information
* Provide support and instruction to the finance teams at the business unit level and other group functions, driving consistency and improvements as needed across the Group

Requirements

* 10+ years of senior management experience in a large organization, preferably within a high growth company
* Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost controls including US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
* Keen ability to develop relationships and influence key internal and external stakeholders
* The skills and abilities to perform activities consistently to a defined standard while maintaining the highest standards of integrity, independence and scepticism.
* Working knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis
* Ability to understand UK statutory accounts including all UK GAAP disclosure notes for each reporting group as well as audited financial statements for UK, Europe and Asia entities.
* The ability to acquire, retain and use knowledge: thinking, reasoning and solving problems in a fast-paced environment including complex deal structuring and documentation thereof.
* The ability to use existing knowledge in a new situation, to make connections, explore potential outcomes, and generate new ideas – both commercially and technically. Modern accounting requires the ability to steer a business on a steady course between risk and opportunity. This requires collaboration, strategic thinking and a 360-degree understanding of the business – its history, its environment, its people and its opportunities.
* Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems
* Proven ability to effectively manage and motivate high performing teams
* Experience working in a global matrix managed organization
* Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with clear evidence of structured thought process and ability to turn data into actionable insights.
* Advanced Excel modelling skills and competency in Word and PowerPoint
* Strong systems skills desirable
* Experience of international payroll
* Extensive knowledge of direct & indirect taxation
* Have managed multi-unit finance functions (e.g. ranging from retail, F&B etc.)
* You will be qualified (ACA/FCA/MBA)
Experience of financial reporting in a private and public environment, including related controls environment (e.g. Sarbanes-Oxley and other international control regulations)
