De Vere Tortworth Court

Following a multi-million pound refurbishment, De Vere Tortworth Court certainly looks its best and it really is a brilliant time to join our team. We can offer a fantastic range of opportunities and development in our departments including the restaurant and bars teams, housekeeping, conference and events, wedding, kitchen, leisure, front of house and maintenance to name just a few.

Working at Tortworth Court means you’ll have the opportunity to be involved in some brilliant events like summer tepee festivals, wedding fairs, specialist fireworks displays, charity events and corporate launch parties. And because we know our team is special, we like to surprise and delight colleagues with birthday and long service celebrations, doughnut days, pizza days, and fun colleague activities such as games, tea parties and treat days.

Head Chef

Love food. Love your job.

Passion, drive, enthusiasm: that’s what we look for in our chefs.

We’re serious about the future of our business: that’s why we’ve invested over £100m across our De Vere hotels and venues up and down the country.

We’ve developed our food offering too, creating vibrant, casual dining restaurants, such as 1705 Restaurant & Bar at De Vere Beaumont Estate, 1560 Restaurant & Bar at De Vere Wokefield Estate, and 1853 Restaurant & Bar at De Vere Tortworth Court.

A Chef career with De Vere means variety, industry leading professional development, fun at work and career prestige, because you’ll be working for one of the brightest brands in hospitality.

We are looking to recruit an outstanding Head Chef who can demonstrate strong kitchen management knowledge and skills, real passion for quality together with a commercial and creative mind. You will have experience of working in a dynamic, large hotel or venue with conference and banqueting operations. You will be responsible for instructing, supervising, and developing Sous Chefs, Chef de Parties and the kitchen brigade in their daily tasks, and when required assist them in their preparation of food.

As the head of department you will develop formal training plans and conduct on-the-job training sessions for your team while monitoring growth through regular one to ones. You will be involved in menu development with the Group Development Chef to ensure your menu is up to date with seasonal changes.

As a Head Chef it is important you can demonstrate the following skills, experiences and competencies:

• Previous experience as Head Chef in a 4* or 5* hotel or venue
• Experience of working and leading in a dynamic environment
• A passion to grow and develop your kitchen brigade
• A consistent track record of managing and developing the food offering in different businesses, delivering KPI’s
• Full understanding of stock management and recipe creation in a safe kitchen environment
• Strong organisational and project management skills
• Personality and flair with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively at all levels both internally and with our guests
• You should also be commercially aware, financially astute and able to create business plans to drive sales and profitability.

Benefits:

* A competitive salary

* 31 days holiday each year, including bank holidays (this increases annually up to a maximum of 33 days)

* Hotel based incentive and recognition schemes

* Access to our Exclusively Yours, Voluntary Benefits portal, which includes discounts on some travel, leisure time activities, health, retail and motoring

* Discounted accommodation with competitive colleague rates at our other hotels

* Long service awards which increase with length of service

* Excellent training and development opportunities within the hotel, the Company and our online e-learning portal

* Financial rewards for delivering sensational service

* Free meals on duty

* Free uniform provided
