We are
currently recruiting for a Banqueting Supervisor to support our Banqueting team in
their quest to ensure the banqueting operation remains the best banqueting
product in Edinburgh!

The Sheraton
Grand Hotel & Spa is ideally located in the heart of Edinburgh’s financial
and tourist area and is one of Scotland's leading 5 star hotels. As the largest
5 star hotel in the city with 269 bedrooms, we also have the biggest banqueting
and meeting facilities with a capacity of up to 500 and the award winning One
Square Restaurant. Additionally the hotel operates the award winning One Spa™,
one of Europe's premier advanced city spas.

The successful candidate for this position will
have a strong food & beverage background within the Hotel industry, an
ability to work unsupervised and experience/knowledge of banqueting would be
required.

A flexible, customer-focused approach is
essential, with excellent organisation and leadership skills combined with
experience in leading/managing a team.

Essential
Functions

* To review all communication
and action as appropriate particularly any information coming from the
Events team be it in verbal or written form.

* Responsible for setting up
meeting/banquet space in line with Event Orders alone or by Supervising
others ensuring the rooms are set per standard and per the Event Order

* Constant coaching/training of
the casual team is required and follow up of all set ups required to
verify they are set again as per standard and as per the Event order

* Responsible when closing for
ensuring the close down checklist is adhered to and a comprehensive
handover is left for the on coming shift

* Responsible in the absence of
the C&B Manager/Supervisor to ensure that service is as per
Sheraton standards and that we are at all times within Health and Safety
law and the service of alcohol responsibilities we have.

* In conjunction with the Senior
Banqueting team ensure that all functions are fully staffed to the right
degree and that all staff are given the necessary instructions regarding
set ups and service prior to each individual function

* Upselling and identification
of additional revenue opportunities.

* Allocate tasks to the team to
ensure all duties carried out thoroughly and on time and assist with daily
briefings

* Prepare
staff rota/timesheets when requested

* Adjust
rosters on a daily basis in line with the needs of the operation cutting
staff where possible and increasing staffing levels where necessary to
deliver a positive guest experience

Requirements:

We are looking for a confident individual who is capable
to work on their own initiative as well as part of a
team and has a strong desire to improve on their skills and knowledge as
well as:

* Capability
of prioritising their workload to meet deadlines, focused on solving
customer issues
* Ability to handle stress and cope with
the pressures of the job as and when they occur
* Ability
to deal with and adapt to unexpected situations: complaints, change

* Good
listening skills for use with internal and external customers alike

* Flexible
approach towards hours

* Manage
cultural needs and expectations of guests.

* Allocate
tasks to the team to ensure all duties carried out thoroughly and on time.

* Experience
in coaching and training of a team.
