The Role…

At Soho House, the Communication Director will oversee the global communications of Soho House developing and delivering a strategy to externally develop and externally communicate the Soho House brand. Working closely with the CEO and Chief Commercial Officer they will create a clear and consistent narrative about who Soho House is and how the brand will develop – making it resonate and feel relevant with existing and potential members across every continent in the world. The successful candidate will be able to also plan and manage big opening moments – with a 360-degree communications approach: media, social, digital, content, events, influencer advocacy.

As well as the Houses the focus will be using external communications to grow Soho Houses other business: Soho Works, Soho Home, restaurants, spas as well as new membership offerings – sat outside of the Houses.

The role will also manage the reputation of Soho House externally – planning processes and identifying and solving any issues that could become brand damaging. It will also lead the development and outreach to the global financial community to tell Soho House’s growth story. The Group Brand Communications Director will report into the CEO and Chief Commercial Officer.

This role will be based in the Soho House & Co. support office in central London.

Main Duties…

* Lead Soho House’s strategic objectives and deliver an external communications plan which reflects the companies mission statement, ethos and values.
* Launching all new Houses and Works globally - planning and executing a 360-degree communications approach across media, social, digital, content, events, influencer advocacy, with the aim of creating both brand halo moments and acquiring members
* Assist membership in hitting acquisition targets - Globally
* Protect the reputation of Soho House by building key industry contacts and overseeing the issues communications process globally: both proactive and reactively.
* Tell Soho Houses financial growth story and clearly articulate our KPIs and success criteria
* Identify key areas where the brand can improve and grow and bring these into the business - via partnerships or creative collaborations
* Have a black book of media contacts globally - editor level across finance, business, music, art, fashion, news and general culture
* Oversee, plan and deliver Soho House’s purpose programme - Soho Impact
* Work with all teams (operations, design, content, creative, digital, events, partnerships and people & development teams) to deliver the region’s objectives and communicate success externally
* Ensure Soho House is transparent and accountable in its approach and that its values are understood by our members, staff, consumer groups and everyone invested in the company.
* Assess, manage and mitigate reputational risk to Soho House around the world.
* Collaborate with global communication leads to bring country-level content and communication briefs to life.
* Lead the global team towards delivery of external story telling of Soho House’s world-class content and messaging (events, .com content etc) that drives awareness, consideration and ultimately engaged usage of Soho House and all our platforms.
* Externally communicate about Soho House’s website and other digital channels: a best-in-class online resource for consumers and stakeholders
* Ensure that communications activities are tracked against objectives and KPIs, putting in place systems for measurement, evaluation and reporting to the C-Suite; as well as the wider organisation.

Requirements

* Influential leader who is culturally connected across areas as diverse as finance to music.
* A strategic thinker who can execute all plans and initiatives
* Minimum of 12-15 years of experience as a respected leader
* Energetic, flexible, collaborative and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical finance and administrative initiatives
* Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise good judgment and solve problems quickly and effectively
* Experience managing Global media relations teams and launching products and services via campaign management and creative story telling
* Proven network of media contacts across all industries associated with Soho House

* A proven track record of adapting approach to launches based on industry best practice - showing Soho House is leader not a follower

* Senior management and communications experience (both external and internal)
* Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships, including the respect and trust of senior colleagues and stakeholders (e.g., ability to manage sideways/upwards)
* An understanding of the commercial environment in which Soho House operates. In particular, experience in the handling of market-sensitive information.
* Experience of managing digital communications campaigns using a variety of channels such as social media, video, and websites
* Experienced in and thrive on working in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to respond quickly and effectively to changing agendas.
