OVERVIEW/BASIC FUNCTION:

The Director of Communications will be responsible for spearheading the strategic direction, initiatives, planning, coordination, and management of Rosewood Mayakoba (70%) and Rosewood San Miguel de Allende’s (30%) integrated public relations and communications. Reporting directly to the Regional Director of Sales & Marketing for Rosewood Mayakoba and the Director of Sales and Marketing for Rosewood San Miguel de Allende, the candidate will create and communicate the hotel’s messages and ensure overall continuity of hotel brand consistency and image. This position will be based in the Los Angeles regional sales office.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

* Develop a strategic marketing communication plan using the Rosewood Hotels and Resorts marketing guidelines. To ensure that the hotel is professionally positioned in all of the key market segments across the rooms, conference, food and beverage, and spa.

* Ensure that all marketing resources are deployed to create an adequate return on investment and that all projects support each other as part of an integrated plan.

* Act as the hotel representative to the media; establish and maintain excellent relations with the relevant media in key national, regional and local markets to help maintain the positive image of the hotel and secure editorial coverage for Rosewood Mayakoba (70%) and Rosewood San Miguel de Allende’s (30%).

* Optimize the relationship with key marketing partners (brand PR agency, social media agency, creative agency) to ensure that they are provided with a strong brief and that the investment generates appropriate levels of return.

* Research target market and personas, create targeted press lists, create compelling pitches, conduct outreach, coordinate and handle trade show opportunities, and handle all aspects of influencer relations.

* Ensure that endorsed talking points are established for all PR messaging and pitch angles.

* Ensure communications support of agreed upon strategic alliances or key partnerships.

* Ensure communications support of retail tenants both internally (on property/guests) and externally.

* Liaise with Rosewood corporate communications and carry out brand-related initiatives and activities as requested.

* Create a comprehensive press kit and press releases according to the Rosewood brand standard and distribute to relevant media contacts and supporting PR agencies.

* Work in conjunction with the Food & Beverage Department to develop an annual F&B action plan with supporting communication, collateral and PR actions to gain the maximum exposure for these initiatives.

* Work in conjunction with the Spa Department to develop an annual Spa action plan with supporting communication, collateral and PR actions to gain the maximum exposure for these initiatives.

* Work in conjunction with the Rooms Division and Activities team to develop an annual Activities action plan with supporting communication, collateral and PR actions to gain the maximum exposure for these initiatives.

* Oversee the planning and execution of all property photo and film shoots, to ensure that Rosewood Mayakoba (70%) and Rosewood San Miguel de Allende’s (30%) have a constantly evolving and updated range of photography, in keeping with the photography guidelines defined by Rosewood Hotels and Resorts.

* Maintain a current and accurate electronic photo library within the hotel marketing department and with Rosewood Marketing including updates for the hotel website.

* Oversee the social media management of all channels for the hotel including developing a content calendar, post copy, imagery and ensuring a timely response to all community comments.

* Develop and implement (when needed) a crisis communications plan for the hotel and act as the public spokesperson in accordance with the Rosewood brand guidelines.

* Ensure any employees who are put forth in a front facing media capacity are well briefed, provided endorsed talking points and accompanied by DOComms.

* Coordinate and communicate all details surrounding media guests prior to their visit and escort and be present with all media representatives while at hotel.

* Attend relevant functions, events or receptions with a view to positively promote the properties’ events or products.

* Complete hotel site tours in a professional and courteous manner at all times.

* Prepare monthly and ad-hoc reports on the effectiveness of all marketing communication disciplines.

* Ensure that all projects, expenses etc. are in accordance with the budget, which shall be submitted to and approved in advance of the commitment by the Director of Sales & Marketing.

* Assist in procurement of sponsors for events and activities.

* Carry out other additional duties from time to time as delegated by the hotel management.

* Engage with the community to build a network of local guests to frequent the F&B outlets and Spa.

* Develop creative concepts to attract and drive business across all outlets.
