Assistant Financial Controller

Crowne Plaza London Docklands offers 210 bedrooms and 4-star accommodation in one of London’s fastest growing districts and the heart of the 2012 iconic sporting victories, with 8 modern meeting rooms. We are just minutes from key event locations such as the ExCeL Exhibition Centre, The O2 Arena and Stratford City. The hotel accommodation offers a perfect place to stay in London, making us the number one choice for a London City Airport hotel connection.

With good transport links, the hotel can be easily accessed by public transport. Royal Victoria train station is about 2 minutes’ walk to the hotel. Our employees have been playing a tremendous part in the hotel and our team success, from our employee engagement being above 89%.

The Docklands Suite is the largest of the meeting rooms and also has the facility to be partitioned into East and West Docklands giving you flexibility and the option to use one room for two purposes. The room also has a civil ceremony license and with the stunning backdrop over the Royal Victoria Dock, we were awarded in 2018 with a Gold accreditation for overall satisfaction by BDRC, ranking us in the top 4 within our portfolio.

We are currently looking for a motivated, professional individual with personality and passion to join our winning team.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Assistant Financial Controller to join an amazing team, reporting to the Financial Controller. As Assistant Financial Controller you will be responsible for the hotel accounting and financial controls under your area of responsibility, with functional guidance from the Financial Controller. Ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures as outlined in the Hotel operation manual, corporate policies and procedures. In addition, the job incumbent controls the overall cash flow by managing the credit and payables functions. The incumbent should be proactive, analysing, and recommending alternative action in every respect, and operate in line with hotel and corporate policies and guidelines, and the hotel’s business plan to protect the business from risk of bad debt or poor credit rating.

We are looking for an energetic and highly motivated individual with proven experience within the hotel industry. The successfully recruited Assistant Financial Controller will have had previous experience within the same capacity role.

As Assistant Financial Controller you must be self-motivated and be an inspirational leader, who believes in delivering the best possible standards in guest service, continually leading your team by example. The role requires excellent interpersonal skills, have excellent communication skills.

Your key areas of responsibility will include:

* Maximizes cash flow performance of the hotel through controls on inventory, credit and collection, disbursements, deposits and remittances

* Enforces, documents and establishes adequate controls for all revenues and expenses and protection of assets, and ensures controls will satisfy or improve the level of guest service

* Maintains accurate and timely financial and operating information and provides analyzes, interpretations and projections to management as required

* Conducts monthly inspections and tests to ensure all departments are complying with required procedures

* Performs those duties as required by the Financial Controller in respect of controls

* Follows up on all capital expenditures to ensure compliance with original justification and approval

The ideal candidate is an individual who has a great personality, be results driven, be able to motivate the team during pressured times, be confident cares about providing excellent service to our guests and who can use their intuition and creativity to deliver a wondrous experience for everyone. Has an excellent customer focus, organisation and methodical approach is paramount with this role in order for the team and hotel to be successful. Experience within a similar environment is preferable.
